Yesterday was a weird day.  I just felt reallyreallyreally disconnected.  Like, I didn’t know what was going on anywhere outside of the walls of my house.

Oh yeah, I was.  Agggghhhh!!!

So, the service that does our phone/internet sent out a polite little notice last week that they were going to be doing some work on the lines on either March 11 or March 12 in our area.  They reminded people to NOT call them to report a problem, as the lack of service was not a problem, but just maintenance work that they already knew about.  To me it sounded like a desperate plea… I mean, how many people are going to remember that little note?  I almost didn’t.  I’m sure they were bombarded with calls ALL DAY LONG.  Which, serves them right, in my indignant opinion!  They claimed in the “note” that it would be a short interuption of service, and that it would not be an inconvienience.  It was out until sometime between 3:45 and 4:30 PM!  That is more than just a short interuption to me!  I had a lot of things I needed to actually do to prepare for my Pampered Chef party tonight, and I couldn’t do them until the evening… which… I like to spend with my sweet husband who has been at work all day!  Aggghhh!!!

Sadly, the work was not my biggest gripe from having no internet all day.  I just felt super disconnected.  I had not realized how much I had come to rely on emails, facebook, blogging, etc… as a quick catch-up to the “adult world”.  I guess in another light, it was a good experience.  I definitely realized how much time I spend on the computer every day, and I did enjoy more play time with the kids.

Lesson learned:  technology is a great thing until you don’t have it.  But, would I have ever missed it if I didn’t have it to begin with?  I think not.  Maybe once a week I’ll try a “disconnected” day.  Maybe.  Later.
