Umm, how did that happen?

Today is Rachel’s 4th birthday.  I know to the people who have much older children that 4 is not a big deal.  But to me, it is.

Four.  It just seems big!  When she turned 2 she was still a “baby”.  When she turned 3, same thing.  Still had that little toddler look to her.  On her 4th birthday I’m starting to see a little girl.  One who is growing up in to a big girl, who will be a teenager, and then a young woman.

It’s a lot to see all at once.

I lovelovelove her to pieces.  She’s funny, caring, smart, pretty, opinionated, tempestuous, forgiving, helpful…  I just love her.

I asked her the other day if she could stay small for me.  She responded, “no, mom, I have to get bigger.  That’s what I’m supposed to do”.  Yep.  But I still wish I could hold on to her longer the way she is.

Happy Birthday to my only girl, Rachel.
