Happy Birthday, dear Thor
Today is my son’s 5th birthday! Ahhh, my middle baby. So much sweetness about him. I can’t believe he is FIVE!!!
My middle blessing was born on a Wednesday, five years ago.
He was my “string bean” baby…. long and skinny! He’s still my string bean boy; it’s ridiculously difficult to find pants to fit this child’s waist. 🙂
Eli has always been my more cautious child. Not quick to jump into the unknown. The past month, though, he has begun to come out of his shell a little bit. He’s started a 3-day a week K4 program that has been wonderful for him, and he’s gained enough confidence to ask that we start calling him “Thor” instead of Eli. 🙂
His favorite food is macaroni & cheese, and he doesn’t like the “fancy” versions of it! He just like plain Mac & Cheese, thankyouverymuch.
For the longest time, his favorite color was brown. Now, he claims it’s “golden”.
He was a snuggly baby; the most snuggly of any of my three, and he still likes to have some good snuggle time.
He’s a daddy’s boy… he LOVES his dad! Every morning it takes Matt about 10 minutes to get out of the house because he’s having to hug and kiss the kids every 5 seconds. Eli is notorious for yelling as Matt’s literally on his way out the door, “just one more hug!”, and Matt always obliges.
He played soccer last fall, and didn’t love it. He played t-ball in the spring and though it was okay. He’s playing soccer again (at his request) and now loves it. His favorite position is goalie. If you had asked me a year ago if I ever saw my shy-guy diving for balls and being bold as a goalkeeper, I would have chuckled. But, he is! He’s gained so much confidence from “making good stops”.
He’s a smart kid, and also really funny. He says things constantly that make me laugh; it’s interesting to see the wheels turning in his brain.
He loves his brother and sister. He and Rachel are only 15 months apart, so they play super well together. He and Brady are 2.5 years apart, and it’s so cute to see Eli teach Brady how to do things. He’s a good big brother.
He is a gamer. Well, as much of a gamer as a five year old can be. He loves playing Mario Brothers related games on our Wii (Super Mario, Mario Sluggers, MarioKart). He also loves technology & the games there. I think he knew how to operate the iPad I got last year for Christmas before I did. 🙂
I admit, I did ask him if he could just skip his fifth birthday and stay four. He declined. I love my Eli, and I am loving watching him grow into the man God created him to be. I would be lying if I said I never wished I could snuggle with my babies as babies again, but it’s SO much FUN having them grow up too!
Happy Birthday to Eli… or Thor… whichever. 😀
