Algebra was lost on me. Algebra II? Blech. My junior year of high school I went from “honors” math to “regular” math. I don’t even remember what the subject was… that’s how painful it was!
Geometry, on the other hand, I liked.
I think it was the proofs.
You see, when you have a proof… you’re taking what you have and (using particular rules) proving it to be true.
This logic, I liked. No nebulous algebra for me, thankyouverymuch!
Today, I encountered a proof. A Living proof.
I love how simply complex God is. HE is complex. He reveals himself to us in simple ways.
I like simple.
Today it was this:
“Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another”. 1 John 4:11
“If A, then B”. God loves us. We love one another. Problem solved.
However, simple knowledge doesn’t always mean simple action.
How are we to love one another? After all, love is such an over-used word in our culture.
I love pizza
I love that TV show
I love your outfit
I love my family
Love, love, LOVE…
“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him”. 1 John 4:9
And, in case we didn’t get it the first time…
“This is love; not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins .” 1 John 4:10
Still simple math.
God loves me, therefore I love others. How do I love others?
In the same way he loves me. He sent his Son for me. THAT is how he loves me.
Simple, and complex.
It’s what I love about God.
Lord, show me how you love me! I need to know…
not just so I can bask in the knowledge of it, but so I can love others in the same way.
