not in vain

I pray all the time for my girl.  How could I not?

I pray with a desperation that comes from a Mother’s heart,

wanting to protect and comfort and yet not yet being able to do that.

Some days, that desperation comes in a stronger wave, and I know there is reason for it.  I know she needs me, she needs the only thing I can offer right now, which are my prayers.

And so I pray like David did in Psalm 20

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God!

Yes!

And so in the name of the Lord my God, the one who pulled me out of darkness into his light, I ask for protection for my child.

Don’t remove your hand from her.

Don’t take your eyes off of her.

Drape your mantle around her and keep her close to your side.

Grant to her peace and rest as she sleeps.

Protect her from all harm, from all attack, from any ploy of our Enemy, who seeks to destroy.

You are the Holy One, and you have great plans for her, plans that will glorify you!

I give her to You, knowing that you loved her even before we knew she was out there.

You are Enough.

My prayers are not in vain.
