so sweet, and SIX!
We don’t do parties every year for our munchkins. We’ve decided that now we’re even with 2 girls and 2 boys, we’ll just alternate; every other year is a “boy party” year, and the alternating years will be “girl party” years.
This year is all about the BOYS!
And what a sweet start with this six year old.
For the record, he has promised that he will NOT get any bigger or older. Mama wants to squeeze him tight and hold on to every sweet thing there is about this little boy, and while I’m excited to see him grow, I’m also a bit sad. Before he turned six he declared six was IT. No more for him! But after the big day, he has changed his tune. I think he really does want to be seven next year…
We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. 🙂
He chose to party at a gymnastics spot, and had a blast. I got to the party, busted out my camera, just to see the flashing notification, “camera card missing”. Uh oh. Fortunately there were other cameras there.
We are so thankful for the friends who made it out to celebrate our boy with us. He has had a difficult year; Age 5 was full of getting used to having a new sister who didn’t particularly care for him, it was getting used to not being the baby of the family anymore. It was learning to love in the face of rejection and giving grace when it was most certainly not deserved.
He has changed so much, this boy of ours, so very much. He understands the complexities behind his sister and her past more than a six-year-old should. He is quick to help out; his favorite job is to wipe off the table after we eat. He plays hard and works hard, but isn’t a fan of hanging laundry up. He declares with the most convincing grimace on his face he has “stomach ache” when he spots veggies he doesn’t like on his plate.
He has become a little more the man I know he will be one day, a leader, a friend, loyal, and funny.
This day was important for him, and he loved it.
